Madrid, December 12, 2019 - The first Joint Committee set up under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Italian Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic met today in Madrid. The Italian delegation led by Director General Oliviero Montanaro met the Dominican delegation led by Director Pedro Garcia.
During the meeting, the documents that will regulate cooperation between the two countries were discussed and approved: Guiding Principles, Rules of Procedures and Financial Document. The Medium Term Work Plan was also approved which provides for work on the following areas:
• Improved meteorological data collection, management and forecasting of extreme events.
• Sustainable development and environmental protection.
• Strengthening of national technical qualities and enhancement of national expertise
