From Andes to Alps: Monitoring mountain ecosystems as a contribution to the NDC of Perù
Sharm El-Sheikh, November 10th 2022. In the COP27 framework, the Italian Pavilion hosted the Side Event "From Andes to Alps: Monitoring mountain ecosystems as a contribution to the Peru’s NDCs". The Director General Alessandro Modiano participated for the Ministry of Ecological Transition, while the Director General Milagros Sandoval participated for the Ministry of the Environment, (MINAM), of Peru.
The issue began with the presentation of the project, supported by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition, "Supporting NDC's implementing in Peru", by Cristina Rodríguez, Director General of the "Adaptation of Climate Change and Desertification" of the Ministry of the Environment of Peru.
The project aims to strengthen the national environmental management system in order to contain the damage caused by the increasing number of extreme weather events. This, by trying to promote a profound change and creating the necessary conditions for the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions for mitigation and adaptation of Peru, as a tool to implement sustainable, equitable and resilient development to climate change.
During the Side Event, the videos “From Andes to Alps” (Insert the video) and “The Water Route” (video: Historias de montana) were shown. They have introduced the following presentations on the methodologies for monitoring mountain ecosystems.
